"Rocket Man"
This guy is the newest family memeber in our home, He is a n Enlish Bull Terrier that we helped out on my 35th birthday this year.. Not only had we NOT been looking for another dog, I was very serious about not ever wanting more than 2 dogs again...
Sometimes life just throws you are curve ball that you just have to go with.

Rocket Man had been in a not so great situation hence the reason we took him in. Kevin had been having with his car and in the last attempt to keep it alive we both went to Autozone to look for a part. While we were in line waiting to pay a man in line announcd he had a dog he was looking to give away otherwise he was taking him to an animal shelter. And in this day and time, with the economy being horrible and the fact that shelters have beentaking in more animals than ever did not size well for Rocket Man. Being a Bull Terrier he had less of a chance like a Pit Bull.. I have always wanted a stubborn little pig face but with them being rare and very expensive..I gave up that thought, I only rescue never buy.
I was horrified and we asked where the dog was...It was a horribly rainy and cold day and the guy had this soaking wet Bull terrier in a crate strapped in the back of his truck . At that moment I started asking for some information on the dogs history etc.
He then goes to tell us that the dog was 4 yrs old and that "Rocket" belonged to his girlfriend. He also said he was with her wen she bought the dog and after she bought the dog. She ended up getting Ovarian Cancer and quickly deteriorated.
After her passing 2 years ago he basically had no time or care for the dog (even though they had been with the dog since he was a puppy) Didn't sound right o me, still doesn't.
So "Rocket" lived in 3ft x 3ft crate in a garage for the last 2 years, with little socialization or love. Sad, yes..But with that being said he has come to my house and he is ever so greatful.

When we first got "Rocket" home he seemed depressed and a bit anxiety ridden. I guess I would too. If I had been caged for the last 2 years in solitary confinement.
The only thing he instantly felt a bond with was our 100lb Boxer/mastiff mix.. With Parker as his confidant and love and consistency from us. His past is fading quickly.
It's easy to feel sorry for him and his situation...But that is a human emotion that dogs do not feel. Dogs live for the moment and not the past, alot of people don't realize when you take in a abused or neglected animal you cannot feed into that. Otherwise the animal is never able to let go and it's stunts their ability to grow into a healthy, happy animal.
Now That "Rocket Man" has been with us for 2 weeks and as you can tell from the pic below he is finally getting settled in and is one of the happy go lucky guys ever. It would have been a shame for him to not be here because he was not loved and misunderstood.. I love my new baby

For those who want to get a Bull Terrier, they are a very strong and stubborn breed.. (anything with the word BULL in it's name is always going to be a challenge)
I would highly recommend adopting an adult...With an adult you are adopting what he/she IS..With buying a puppy, You are buying POTENTIAL (what he will become)..
This is a breed that can be aggressive to small animals and the same sex. It can be like a Bull in china shop. Please read more about this breed to find it's personality and life mixes with yours.
